This has been a hard month for me. As you can tell, I haven’t written anything since October. Dealing with the anniversary of my wife’s death on the 8th, and then the prospect of “celebrating” the holidays alone had left me with little to say and little desire to be out-of-the-box. I had intended to participate in National Novel Writing Month and got all of 370 words on the first day. I haven’t been able to write since. I’m sure I will manage to get back into the swing of things sooner rather than later, but I did want to take today to list the things I’m thankful for.
I’m thankful for my family. Even though I don’t get to see them that often, just knowing they’re there for me is sometimes enough.
I’m thankful for my friends. They may not be many, but they make up in quality what they lack in quantity.
I’m thankful for the technology that allows me to stay in touch with my friends, no matter how near or far.
I’m thankful for my health. I tend to take it for granted most of the time, but I am grateful that I have my health.
I’m thankful for my senses. The ability to see, hear, feel, touch and taste the wonders all around me is not to be taken lightly.
I’m thankful for music. The right song at the right time can be very uplifting.
I’m thankful for my creativity. Even at times like this month when I’m staring down a mean case of writer’s block.
I’m thankful for my sense of humor. Sometimes being able to laugh is all that I need to get me through tough times.
I’m thankful for my job. In this economy, with unemployment the way it is, it is a blessing to have a good job that pays well.
I’m thankful for the financial aid folks at Keiser University, who managed to find a way for me to finish my schooling.
I’m thankful for my house. It’s easy to forget how many people are homeless when I have a roof over my head.
I’m thankful for my country. As many warts as the U.S. may have, there are very few places where I can live as free as I do here.
I’m thankful for Jesus’ sacrifice for me. Thanks to Him, I can look forward to being in Heaven.
I’m thankful for the hundreds, if not thousands, of times God has answered a prayer of mine.
I’m thankful for the hundreds, if not thousands, of times God has not answered a prayer, because He had something better in mind for me than what I wanted.
And I’m thankful for all of you, my dear readers, for taking time from your day to spend with me and my ramblings.
